She Defied the Odds

Jessica Cox became the first pilot with no arms proving you do not need wings to fly!  She became the first armless pilot to earn a pilot's certificate and the first with such disability to gain a black belt in Taekwondo.  That is two firsts by my arithmetic!

Jessica was born with a rare birth defect being born with no arms.  None of the prenatal tests her mum did showed there was anything wrong.  Yet this woman showed determination in defying all the odds that lay ahead of her in life.

Jessica Cox is remarkable.  She is a psychology graduate.  Though she has no arms, she can:
  • write
  • type
  • drive a car without modifcation
  • brush her hair
  • talk on the phone
  • put on her contact lenses
  • and live a normal life basically!

Jessica has the attitude of success only.
An attitude of fortitude and purpose.  Such attitude took her to the altitudes having spent three determined years in  her pilot training.  Attitude does indeed determine Altitude.

How quick do we give up sometimes?  Yet this lady took the time, persistence and will power for the long haul that was required for her to get her pilot licence.

Such admirable attitude caused her to defy the odds not even using  prosthetic arms since she turned 14.  She has made a choice to live a normal, vibrant life.

The only disability in life is having the wrong attitude.  Reading testimonies of people like Ms. Cox is inspiring and spurs us to adopt the right attitude that is required for success and not submitting to our challenges.

Indeed Jessica defied the odds and so can YOU!

DON'T GIVE UP!

Thomas Edison who created the lightbub said many people who consider themselves failures did not realize how close to success they were before they gave up.  Edison is said to have made more than 10,000 attempts before he succeeded!

The versions vary but Edision is allegedly quoted as saying  "I have not failed. I have successfully discovered 9,999 ways how to NOT make a light bulb".

What if Edision had given up?

See FAILURES instead as CHALLENGES

Failures are stepping stones to our promotion.  They propel us forward if we resist giving up. See failures instead as challenges.  Edison refused to use the word 'fail'!  Change your speech.

Challenges makes you a stronger person
Challenges makes you grow
Challenges are often in the path of success
DON'T GIVE UP!

God did not create you to fail so you can never be a failure.  God calls YOU a success.  Why?  Because He is.  And we are made in His image and likeness.  What we therefore decide to call ourselves is up to us and subsequently affects our results in life.

SAY THE RIGHT THING

Say right now  'I AM A SUCCESS!'  Keep saying it till it becomes your mindset.

How many attempts have you made at that thing?  9,999?  Then keep going!

Hi & Welcome

My name is Zoe Onah.  Lets talk...

Would you not like to defy the impossible?  Defy the odds of some 'sentence' over you?  Or do such stories inspire you?

Well, I will be blogging on defying the odds, mental health...and illness(!), emotional well being,  anything that inspires me...and hopefully you,  and a whole lot more.

So welcome and let's hang out.  Post your valued comments.  Share your thoughts.

Before I go, remember one thing:

THOUGHTS become WORDS
WORDS become ACTIONS
ACTIONS become HABITS
HABITS become CHARACTER
CHARACTER become DESTINY

What are you thinking now??
