She Defied the Odds

Jessica Cox became the first pilot with no arms proving you do not need wings to fly!  She became the first armless pilot to earn a pilot's certificate and the first with such disability to gain a black belt in Taekwondo.  That is two firsts by my arithmetic!

Jessica was born with a rare birth defect being born with no arms.  None of the prenatal tests her mum did showed there was anything wrong.  Yet this woman showed determination in defying all the odds that lay ahead of her in life.

Jessica Cox is remarkable.  She is a psychology graduate.  Though she has no arms, she can:
  • write
  • type
  • drive a car without modifcation
  • brush her hair
  • talk on the phone
  • put on her contact lenses
  • and live a normal life basically!

Jessica has the attitude of success only.
An attitude of fortitude and purpose.  Such attitude took her to the altitudes having spent three determined years in  her pilot training.  Attitude does indeed determine Altitude.

How quick do we give up sometimes?  Yet this lady took the time, persistence and will power for the long haul that was required for her to get her pilot licence.

Such admirable attitude caused her to defy the odds not even using  prosthetic arms since she turned 14.  She has made a choice to live a normal, vibrant life.

The only disability in life is having the wrong attitude.  Reading testimonies of people like Ms. Cox is inspiring and spurs us to adopt the right attitude that is required for success and not submitting to our challenges.

Indeed Jessica defied the odds and so can YOU!
